Property Summary
A beautifully presented two double bedroom first floor apartment in a handsome Victorian mansion with large gardens, parking, stunning views and located in the desirable village of Bitton, just 6.6 miles from the heart of Georgian Bath and 6.9 miles from vibrant Bristol.
The mansion is reached by a sweeping drive through landscaped gardens and is now home to seven exclusive apartments. “The tree-lined impressive drive initially attracted us to the apartment,” says the vendor. “We used to own a larger house with a big garden but were looking to enjoy life a bit more rather than spend all our time on property maintenance and this apartment gave us all the advantages of a much larger property without the aggravation! There is a grand Bath stone communal entrance shared by two apartments and we are on the first floor. On entering our apartment, you are struck by how light and spacious it is.”
“There are two large double bedrooms with high ceilings and coving, carpeted in soft beige. Both have views over the gardens with trees and shrubs, we are not overlooked here, and it feels very peaceful. The main bedroom has fitted wardrobes, painted in Farrow & Ball soft grey. There is a large bathroom with bath and separate walk in shower, and laminate flooring. A cloakroom is off the hall, with a large cupboard with room for washing machine, tumble drier and vacuum cleaner. There is another cupboard for bedding as well – this apartment has plenty of storage everywhere!”
“The sitting room is very spacious with high ceilings, cornicing, ceiling roses and three sash windows. There is a fireplace with white painted wood surround and coal effect fire, which, to be honest, we hardly ever need to turn on as this is a very warm apartment. The sitting room has views over the gardens; we do not see any cars as they are parked round the back. All the windows have shutters, which make the apartment very cosy in the winter.“
“Double doors open onto the dual aspect kitchen from the sitting room, and this is a brilliant entertaining room. The kitchen has an oak laminate floor and oak worktops with soft grey painted units. There is a large island with seating as well as a big kitchen table with enough room for fifteen to twenty people in here. There is an electric oven and hob with glass splash back and room for a dishwasher and integrated fridge/ freezer. We have space for a wine cooler and there is a useful cupboard which houses the boiler and is storage for the Christmas decorations. Two windows above the white ceramic sink look out over trees, and all in all it is a superb entertaining space.
“The communal gardens are very well looked after by two gardeners who come once a week. We have our table and chairs out all the time and my grandchildren love to visit and play out here. It is also a very serene spot to sit and read as well. There is parking for two cars and in addition there is visitor parking. When my three children come with their kids there is never any problem finding a space to park. “
“Bitton is virtually halfway between Bath and Bristol so you have all the advantages of two quite different cities. In Bitton we often go for a coffee and cake at Fonthill Garden Centre (0.3 miles away), the Swan at Swineford (1.6 miles away) does excellent food and our favourite pub is the Crown at Kelston (2.9 miles). Bitton is a thriving community, with school, pub, hairdresser’s, village shop, and St Mary’s Church and offers many social activities including gardening club, film club, and history society. At Keynsham there is a station, 1.9 miles away. There is a cycle track into Bath and so many beautiful country walks.”
