Five bedroom semi-detached 1930s home including a self contained one/two bedroom annex, parking and gardens in Widcombe, Bath

Property Summary

A five bedroom semi-detached 1930s home including a one (potentially two) bedroom annex, off road parking, small garage, and beautiful gardens, peacefully located in the friendly and sought after Widcombe area of Bath.

The vendor says: “The House is in an idyllic location just a short stroll from the heart of the Historic city centre with the canal and Skyline walks right on our doorstep. The road gets very little traffic and is incredibly quiet. The house itself is deceptively large and spacious, in fact a bit of a Tardis and offers so much. Both the front and rear garden are sun traps at different times of the day. The front garden offers a secluded seating area, a little like a secret garden being below street level and feels very private. The garden at the back captures the sun throughout the day and is sectioned off to give a feeling of separate outside rooms. There are two arches, a rose and a honeysuckle, inviting you through the garden to the little brook at the far end where one can spot fish from time to time. There is a pretty garden room straddled over the brook. It is an ideal spot to enjoy the afternoon sun and take a nap in the peace and tranquility.”

The house is very connected to the gardens with two partially covered balconies where one can enjoy views of the garden and glimpses of the canal. Entering the main house there is a door leading into a spacious kitchen and dining room opening onto the lower balcony.
There is also a good sized sitting room with wood burning stove.”

“Stairs lead from the hallway to the upper floors where there are two large bedrooms one with en suite and which leads onto the covered upper balcony through sliding glass doors.
The family bathroom is also on this floor.
There are two further bedrooms on the upper loft conversion floor, one of which is used as a studio at present and the other an occasional guest bedroom. There are also very useful under eaves storage areas accessible from these rooms.
The house benefits from a lower level ‘undercroft’ at garden level and has two rooms one used as an office and the other as a work room which is connected to the conservatory. The area being under the main balcony is a useful covered area and great for storing a multitude of things including logs for the wood burner, gardening equipment and tools.

At the front of the house there are two main doors one of which leads to the Annexe. The annexe has been used as an Airbnb and also for lodgers, bringing us a good income. On entering the annexe from the street there is a hallway which leads to stairs down to the garden. There is a utility room, formally the second bedroom for the annexe, a shower room and access to the small garage which houses several bicycles and stored articles.
From this hallway there is a door which leads up to a double bedroom with en-suite, a sitting room and kitchen.”

“The property is 0.5 miles walk to the railway, bus station and into town. It also has off road parking as well as permit parking for two or three vehicles.
Widcombe offers a delightful village feel with a parade of shops including a deli, social club, three public houses, a restaurant, greengrocers, Co-Op store, garden centre and much more. There are beautiful walks through national trust farmland with cows, sheep, chickens and deer.
Ralph Allen’s Prior Park Landscape Gardens is a short walk away and can be reached via the back entrance. Widcombe Primary School has an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating and Prior Park Senior School and Paragon Junior School are nearby.

We have loved living in this house and it is heartbreaking for us now to leave but as we get older we would like to be nearer to our family and spend more time with our latest grandchild.”
