Property Summary
A stunningly situated detached five bedroom house with versatile accommodation and approximately 1/3 of an acre in a quiet location with fabulous rural views. The property is located in Wick, just 7.2 miles from the centre of Bath and 6.9 miles from the centre of Bristol. The house offers a spacious L shaped living/dining room, the possibility of separate accommodation downstairs with a bedroom, sitting room, second kitchen/ utility room, shower room and upstairs are four bedrooms and Jack and Jill bathroom. There is a conservatory, double garage, parking, gardens and fields on three sides.
“The tranquil location set well back from the road, with far reaching views were such compelling factors that drew us to this house. To be surrounded by fields on three sides and to look across to the village of Hamswell and towards Sir Bevil Grenville’s monument near Lansdown make this house so special. Our favourite room is the living/dining room as it is so light and bright and takes advantage of the incredible views from three aspects,” says the vendor.
“The fact that the house is so flexible is also a bonus,” continues the vendor. “The previous owner had his mother-in-law living with the family in her own accommodation downstairs, with a second kitchen, bedroom, sitting room and shower room for her own use, so it is a very versatile space that can be incorporated in to the main house or used by a dependant relative. Downstairs there is the large living/dining room which has been able to accommodate twenty five for Christmas lunch; with the wood burning stove on, it is such a cosy place for all the family to meet up. The conservatory is a lovely room to sit in and enjoy the spectacular views. We also love having breakfast out on the balcony, which is south facing and overlooks the countryside. Upstairs there are four decent double bedrooms and a Jack and Jill bathroom.”
“Outside we have plenty of parking – for up to eight cars, as well as a double garage with power and lighting and a separate internal room. The garden at the back is largely laid to lawn, with apple trees, conifers and seven very tall poplar trees. There is also a pond with Koi carp, breeding goldfish and a waterfall. There is well visited bird box in the tree next to it, with Great Tits that annually fledge from there. There is a wide paved patio running along the back of the house that leads to the main area of lawned garden. The front garden has colourful flower beds and mature shrubs, a cherry tree and two large silver birches. The whole plot measures approx. 1/3 of an acre.”
“We are very lucky to have a post office and convenience store just down the hill and there are four pubs within a mile from here. The doctors’ surgery is amazing – you regularly get a same day appointment. Golden Valley nature reserve is very nearby and is a perfect place for walkers and bird watchers. We also often go for walks in the two big fields further up the lane to our left with our Labrador. It is so nice to go for a country walk without having to get in the car or go near any pavements. We are virtually equidistant between Georgian Bath and vibrant Bristol, so really do feel we have the best of both worlds here. It has been such a tranquil semi-rural location, with such fabulous views, but such good access to two great cities and it is very quick to the M4 from here too. We will miss the house and the quiet location, but are now looking to downsize.”
