Property Summary

A versatile five/six bedroom, four bathroom period property with high ceilings and stone mullion windows quietly located in the desirable village of Corston, on the west side of Georgian Bath.
“The flexible layout and peaceful location initially attracted us to this house, which was built about 1890 with later additions,” say the vendors. “Our favourite room is the impressive drawing room which has a vaulted double height ceiling and lovely views over the garden; the perfect place to sit and watch the children playing outside or entertain friends. It is a beautiful light room with oak floorboards and a sunroom with French doors leading out to the garden. In winter, the drawing room really comes into its own; we have a 14’ high Christmas tree and the wood burning stove makes this such a welcoming room.”
“A large hallway leads to four of the bedrooms, two of which are en suite and a main family bathroom. Downstairs is a large open plan kitchen/living/ dining room complete with vast island unit, marble worktop, integrated microwave, oven, and halogen hob. The room easily accommodates 15 for Christmas dinner. There is also an area with woodburning stove, sofa, and chairs – a perfect place to relax after supper. To the rear is a small courtyard, a useful space to leave muddy boots. Currently, we use two of the other rooms on this floor as a study and teenage bedroom, but when the children were younger we had a playroom and guest room here. In addition, there is a bathroom, utility room, boot room and vault (currently used for storage, but could be converted into a gym if desired as the house also benefits from a large attic).”
“The garden is split level, as we are set into the side of the hill. The top level has a patio and table and chairs for eight people. This is the ideal spot for a sundowner with far reaching views of Kelston Round Hill. We have lawns and room for a 10’ trampoline, swings and climbing frame. It is a lovely, sunny mature garden with specimen trees such as magnolia and acers. Outside is a double garage and an extra area for parking.”
“Corston has a really good sense of community with a church, post office and shop. The village hall has Pilates and Yoga classes and there is an annual village fete. A huge area behind the Post Office has a playing field with children’s play park, wooded picnic area and stream. The Wheatsheaf Inn is 1.4 miles away and has recently re-opened with excellent food. The Globe is also extremely popular, 0.6 miles away. The nearest primary schools are in Marksbury, Saltford and Newbridge, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. Wellsway Senior School is also rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted as well as all the easily accessible excellent state and independent Bath schools. There are good transport links with buses into Bath and Bristol every ten minutes with trains to London taking 79 minutes. We have a dog and really enjoy the countryside, particularly the walks around the Capability Brown gardens of Bath Spa University and the Duchy village of Newton St Loe. Newton Farm Foods is a brilliant farm shop and café.”

“We have been very lucky to live in this light, spacious house in the countryside with quick access into Bath and Bristol and the excellent shopping and dining opportunities that these very different cities offer.”
