Property Summary

Built just five years ago, Equus House is a luxury, gated development of nine contemporary apartments that occupies a much sought after location within the Lansdown area of Bath. “My wife and I actually owned the site that Equus House was built on, so we know the area very well and it’s a beautiful place to live,” says Tony. “We sold the land to a developer at a time when we were looking to downsize, and when we saw what he was building we thought that one of the apartments would be absolutely ideal for us.”

“The property sits in a really beautiful elevated location two miles from the city centre, so in terms of convenience it’s absolutely ideal. We’re just a short distance from all of the wonderful shops and amenities of Bath; we have easy access to the motorway networks and the railway station, so it’s perfect for commuting, and yet at the same time we have mile upon mile of the most glorious countryside practically on the doorstep, so it’s wonderfully peaceful and picturesque. We are one third of a mile from the very good Hare and Hounds pub and Lansdown Tennis, Squash and croquet club is just under a mile away. The Royal High School, Kingswood School and St Stephen’s school are also within walking distance. In my mind it’s a location that ticks every box.”

“The development was designed by an excellent local architectural practice and so the apartment has a very sleek modern interior; it’s extremely spacious – particularly in the main living area, which is open-plan and has a wonderfully high ceiling – and it’s also very light and bright throughout. One of the things we particularly love about it however is the view, which is really quite spectacular. The property has been built at the top of Lansdown hill so we can see right the way across the beautiful Charlcombe Valley; it’s often hard to believe we’re so close to the city centre.”

“The main living space is wonderfully open plan, so very spacious, light and bright,” says Tony. “It’s comfortable for day-to-day living and a great area to entertain in, and it has French doors that lead out onto a lovely balcony where we can sit out with a glass of wine and soak in these gorgeous surroundings.”
“It’s the fact that the setting allows you enjoy the very best of both worlds that I’d say makes it so special,” says Tony. “Our immediate surroundings are just beautiful and yet within a matter of minutes we can be right in the hustle and bustle of things.”

“Within the main living area we have a lovely big mezzanine,” says Tony. “We currently use it as an office space, but it’s large enough to be used as extra guest accommodation.”
“The apartment is stunning, but it’s the setting and those views that I think I’ll miss most,” says Tony. “To wake up in the morning and be able to look out across all of that beautiful countryside has been wonderful.”
