Property Summary
Four bedroom, three reception room house, originally built in 1930’s, and extended in 1970’s. With views, gardens, and a paddock, located in the village of Wick, just 7.2 miles from the centre of Bath and 9.5 miles from Bristol, Temple Meads.
The vendor says: “There have only been three owners since the house was built, and I spent my childhood here. Downstairs there is a large hall with downstairs cloakroom and shower room. There is a spacious drawing room, which is my favourite room in the house, with huge brick built original 1930’s fireplace and original parquet flooring. There are stunning views from this room – you can see all the way to Wells Tower and over Somerset on a clear day, all of which can be fully appreciated from the south facing window seat. The dining room has been the scene of many parties over the years; the table seats twelve but we have had twenty sitting down for dinner here on several occasions. There are double french doors to a patio at the side of the house and a big window looks out onto the wood, where deer, badger and foxes can frequently be seen. There is a cosy second reception room or snug.”
“The long kitchen has an oil fired aga, sliding French doors and a very useful walk-in pantry. A utility room leads off the kitchen. There is a small south facing patio at the front of the house and the utility room, dining room and kitchen all lead onto the second patio.”
“Upstairs there are four double bedrooms, one of which is en suite, and there is a family bathroom too.”
“The house is very quiet; we are right by Golden Valley Nature Reserve. There are amazing walks round here. Wick is a lovely village with a real sense of community and there is a lot going on in the village with a Bonfire Night and Christmas Fayre in the village hall, and ‘Wick in Bloom’ was very popular. The village is well served with a general store, Wick café, hairdressers, fish and chip shop – with excellent double fried chips, and Chinese take-away. The Rose & Crown pub serves good food. The Wick pre-school and junior school both have a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating. There is a very active Wick football team that plays in nearby Brockwell Park. Blue Lodge, nearby, was once the home of Black Beauty author Anna Sewell. Tracy Park on the Bath Road is a beautiful golf club and wedding venue.”
“The location is brilliant, with very good access to M4 as well as the centre of Bath and Bristol. There is a bus route in to Bath, Bristol, Chipping Sodbury and Stroud too. Emerson’s Green is excellent for food shopping, and Longwell Green has a large shopping centre with Asda, Marks and Spencer’s, Aldi and a leisure centre with pool, cinema and bowling. This house offers a family so much, with such a peaceful location, plenty of room for entertaining, and the paddock for the kids to play outside, while being perfectly located for work or going out in Bath or Bristol.”
